About this event

Explore the home where Kate Sheppard led the New Zealand Suffrage campaign which culminated in a world first- the vote for women. Our tours at 11am and 1pm offer a captivating deep dive into the past.

Stroll through the garden where Kate received the telegram on 19 September 1893 confirming that women had been granted the vote.

We welcome enquiries about group visits for groups of 10 or more people through katesheppardhouse@heritage.co.nz. Smaller groups are welcome to join our public tours at 11am and 1pm.

Important - Parking

Clyde Road is currently running one way from Riccarton Road to Fendalton Rd. Parking is offered at the University Pay & Display carpark just a five-minute walk away on Clyde Road (free on the weekend!).

Strictly no parking is available on the property. Phone 03 341 1360 if you require an accessible park (only available with a permit).


Details on the Road works
A major upgrade of underground wastewater pipes outside Kate Sheppard House 83 Clyde Road starts 9 September. 🚧🚗

Clyde Road will be reduced to one way - flowing from Riccarton Road to Creyke Road - with a 30km p/h speed limit. Street parking will be limited. Plan your visit to Kate Sheppard House by phoning 03 341 1360, Wed - Sun 10am - 4pm.
