Overview:

Build Confidence in Mastering Physical Assessments with Your Clients.

Understanding your client’s optimal posture in wheelchair seating requires a deep comprehension of their unique biomechanics, postural patterns, presentations, and musculoskeletal limitations.

The Medifab MAT Workshop is a hands-on experience designed to enhance your practical skills in conducting a Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT) evaluation. During this workshop, you'll be challenged to apply body mechanics effectively when assessing clients, ensuring accurate and personalised support solutions.

While the concepts covered are foundational, the knowledge and confidence you gain will empower you to assess and address positioning support needs across various settings.

Join us to build your expertise in postural assessment and make a meaningful impact on your clients' comfort and well-being in their wheelchair seating.

Learning objectives:

Upon completion of this half-day workshop, you will:

  1. Perform a step-by-step MAT assessment in small groups
  2. Demonstrate manual handling techniques specific to the MAT
  3. Identify bony landmarks and accurately use a goniometer
  4. Apply clinical reasoning to determine wheelchair seating product parameters

Note:

This is a foundational half-day workshop aimed at increasing the confidence and skills of clinicians to use the MAT in practice.

This workshop is designed to be completed along with the Medifab Level 1 or Level 2 Wheelchair Seating course curriculum.

Please wear comfortable clothing.

If you are unsure whether this workshop aligns with your personal learning objectives, please contact the Medifab clinical education team.
