About this event

With the Perth Film Studios scheduled to open in 2026, the WA film industry is set to explode! Get your foot in the door with this 3-day masterclass covering roles of DIT, Video, Dailies and more. This is a rare opportunity to learn from one of Australia's foremost experts in on-set workflow and gets hands-on experience with the tools that are used on the biggest films in the world.

Event schedule:

-Day One (The Backlot): Discussion around workflow and signal path on a big-budget production. Overview of the various roles involved with workflow.

-Day Two (The Backlot): In-depth discussion of the roles of DIT and Video Operator: why are they so important and why does Australia have a shortage of them?

-Day Three (Raz Studios): Practical demos and exercises providing hands-on experience with DIT and Qtake systems on a simulated shoot.


This event is hosted by Brendan Dee, a Curtin Film School graduate whose credits include Furiosa, The Hobbit and Ghost in the Shell. Brendan currently works as a head-of-department on James Cameron's Avatar Sequels.
