About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

This course comprises one 3 hour online training sessions scheduled for Tuesday morning 12 November 2024, 9am to 12pm using MS Teams. You will be sent a MS Teams invite.

What Is Covered

The CPD approved course provides a practical overview of public gravity networks (stormwater and wastewater); what they comprise with GIS examples, pipeline capacity, how they operate, what happens when these systems surcharge, overland flow paths and flooding, what causes surcharging, what can be done to manage infiltration and inflow etc.

Upskilling Opportunity

The training is intended for engineering and technical staff quite new to the 'three waters' and who would benefit from a practical overview of how these systems operate. Project, asset management and Call Centre staff who want a basic operational knowledge of these water services would benefit greatly from this course.

The attached 'List of Sessions' for the three hour course identifies the topics covered.

For Chartered Engineers the training can be claimed as CPD with Engineering NZ (and other international equivalents).

The course is held 'at least' six monthly (in April and November each year).

Note that invoices can be generated for those organizations not wanting to use a Credit Card on Eventbrite. Contact the event organizer (richard.taylor@tcec.co.nz). If you purchase using Eventbrite you will receive a GST tax invoice.

For any person outside New Zealand wishing to register, please contact Richard directly (as above), as NZ's GST is not applicable and a manual invoice will be created i.e. do not purchase tickets on this site as you will be charged 15% GST.

The course will be facilitated online by Richard Taylor from Thomas Consultants Ltd who has over 30 years experience with 'three water' networks. Water supply is his main area of expertise, but he was involved with wastewater and stormwater networks for many years, including being a 'Three Water's Manager ' at the former Waitakere City Council in Auckland for 10 years.
