Costuming Austen's Characters

Following on from our panel discussion with the writers and directors of local Austen productions we welcome costumier Meredith Dooley who worked on dressing the actors for all those productions.

If you'd like Meredith to put you in a costume at the meeting please fill out this form

Meredith Dooley is a Wellington born and bred actor, director and costumier. She completed a BA in Theatre and Film at Victoria University of Wellington in the early 1990s, and then trained in acting and directing in London. In 2018-19 she gained a Diploma in Costume Construction at Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School and spent the next two Covid-affected years working on theatre, film and television productions such as Wellington Paranormal, Mr Corman, WOW, and Wellington Opera's Don Giovanni.

Meredith has returned to the office and over the last few years has created costumes for Stagecraft's Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion, and KAT Theatre's Sense and Sensibility, amongst others. Early in 2024 she dipped her toes back into professional theatre, working with cabaret star Meow Meow during the NZ Festival of the Arts.
