About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

There’s a reason you feel wired but tired, find it hard to concentrate, or wake in the night with your mind racing. Behind the scenes, cortisol — your body’s main stress hormone — may be in overdrive. In small bursts, cortisol helps us stay alert and responsive. But when it stays elevated for too long, it can quietly wear us down.

In this 60-minute workshop, you’ll explore the deep connection between prolonged stress, elevated cortisol, and how that affects everything from your mood and memory to your digestion, sleep, and immune health. You’ll learn how the body’s built-in alarm system, designed for short-term survival, can become a long-term saboteur if left unchecked.

Through the lens of mindfulness, we’ll uncover how to soothe the nervous system and gently bring it back into balance. You’ll be introduced to simple, effective practices that can lower cortisol naturally — not just in theory, but in the real-life moments that matter most.

We’ll also explore everyday lifestyle choices that can make a difference: how the timing of your meals, the quality of your rest, and the rhythm of your day all contribute to restoring calm and clarity.

This is about coming home to your body — learning to feel safe, steady, and well again.

What You’ll Gain

  • Clarity on cortisol’s impact
Learn how sustained high cortisol levels can disrupt sleep, suppress immunity, increase inflammation, cause weight gain, and impair memory — and what you can do to prevent it.
  • Mindfulness for nervous system repair
Explore how simple mindfulness techniques can signal safety to the body, reduce reactivity, and promote real recovery from stress.
  • Everyday habits that heal
Discover practical diet and routine changes — from how you start your morning to when and what you eat — that support healthy cortisol regulation and long-term wellbeing.

Your Facilitator, Nat Mallia

Nat is a Certified Mindfulness Works teacher. She has immersed herself in a life of mindfulness since 2015 after facing the prospect of going blind from a corneal degeneration disease.

She never gave up on the prospect that if she calmed her mind and accepted her situation, she would be ok. After spending three months in a Buddhist meditation centre in 2018, a shift occurred in Nat’s eye and with the help of surgery, a miracle occurred—she regained her sight!

Nat decided to leave her Executive role in the Australian Government and follow her long-time dream of moving to the beach, where she established her own meditation and wellness practice to share the gifts of mindfulness with others.

Nat is also a certified Wellness Coach and an ACT Mindfully Practitioner and is accredited with Meditation Australia.
