The NZ ICS Cyber Technical Network will be running the NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit 2023 on the 12th November in New Plymouth, NZ (in person only)

NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit SANS Scholarship

At the 2024 NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit, the SANS Institute will be awarding one complementary SANS course to a deserving member of the NZ ICS/OT security community.

The scholarship will be awarded to a meritorious individual who has made a significant contribution to their NZ industrial organisation and/or the broader NZ ICS/OT security community. This form is to collect nominations.

The submissions will be judged, and a recipient will be selected by a panel of judges. The scholarship will be given away in person at the NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit in New Plymouth on 12th November. The judges reserve the right to validate nominators and/or nominees. The judges' decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Submissions close Thursday 31st October 2024 at 17:00 NZT. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Is this the first NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit?

No. SGS ECL's OT Cyber team (eclcyber.co.nz) ran ICS Cyber Security Summits in 2017 and 2018. The NZ ICS Cyber TN was formed following the 2018 Summit and hosted the Rotorua summit in 2019 with keynote by Robert M Lee and New Plymouth summit in 2023.

Why is the NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit in-person only?

The aim of the NZ ICS Cyber TN is to build, grow, and mature the community of NZ ICS/OT security practitioners. By making the summit in-person only, it allows better engagement, stronger community ties, and deeper sharing than would be possible in a more open (semi-public) forum.

Peter Jackson, NZ ICS Cyber Technical Network

In 2018, Peter Jackson and the ECL Cyber team hosted the 2018 ECL ICS Cyber Security Summit.  During the Q&A discussion, the attendees agreed that a regular forum should be held to discuss improving the security and resilience of industrial networks in NZ.

 

To achieve this, Peter (in conjunction with SANS ICS and ECL Cyber) started the NZ ICS Cyber Technical Network, an industry-led organisation established to promote the sharing and understanding of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Cyber Security ideas in order to foster learning, development and improve cyber security maturity for NZ industrial companies.

 

The group meets via forums (hybrid) and summits (in-person only).  For more information, check out icscyber.org.nz
